The Nova Scotia Chaplains Memorial Golf Challenge
The Nova Scotia Chaplains Memorial Golf Challenge was set up in 2015 ago as an attempt to continue the important charity work of Father Lloyd O’Neill who was the first Chaplain of the Halifax Police Department and who also took on a similar role with the RCMP in Nova Scotia. Regrettably Father Lloyd past away far too soon in 2014 but thanks to a few dedicated individuals his legacy lives on through the generous support of those who attend the tournament each year.
This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at The Links at Penn Hills, located 1 kilometre off highway 102 at exit 10 in Shubenacadie, less than an hours drive from Halifax. At this point we are expecting a full slate of 18 teams. The cost is $100/golfer and includes a round of scramble golf, a shared golf cart and a “Poor-man’s Supper” fitting to honour the way Father Lloyd lived his life.
This year we are pleased to announce that we will have a silent auction after the golf with 15 auction packages valued from $100 to $300. Our new partner the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia will be taking charge of this and will accept cash and credit card payments.
Along with the silent auction we will also have a 50/50 draw as well as the usual on course competitions such as chipping and putting contests. Hole sponsors will be readily accepted or you may decide sponsoring the chipping or putting contests might be more up your ally. Please contact me if I have tweaked your sponsorship interests.
Father Lloyd, and the chaplains before him, did a lot of good things when they were alive and we would like to keep it going by walking their footsteps and the charities they supported. Please visit chaplainschallenge.com to get more information on the work we do.
