MEMORIAL GOLF CHALLENGE
an annual fundraiser tournament...

2020 Team Photos - Thanks to all the 'game' players who came out for a good cause in a challenging year; we had great weather & it was a nice escape for all from reality for a few hours...

The Links at Penn Hills - We always enjoy our time on this beautiful course, especially this year! Sweeping views of Nova Scotia's famous Shubenacadie River & fresh breezes help keep us cool & energized...

Tourney 2020 Corona Virus Version
8:30am - arrive, gear up, get carts, etc. and drive to Holes 1 to 4, for shot-gun tee-off at 9:00am.
Details, restrictions, changes to play & course, etc

As we all know, this year has been a difficult one for Nova Scotians dealing with all of our tragedies. With respect to the golf tournament, we were able to get a green light from Penn Hills Golf Club in the first week of August, with some understandable restrictions. We quickly had a meeting and decided to go ahead with the tournament while keeping to the new rules, as its an outside event and the need for charitable giving is more urgent now then ever.

NEW THIS YEAR - Prize raffle on 10lbs of frozen scallops - draw at end of tourney. Tickets $5 each or 3 for just $10; with proceeds going to our partners Epeilepsy Maritimes.
Also NEW - We were not permitted a banquet because of Covid 19 so we replaced it with a box lunch in the fresh air out on the course; Clubhouse kitchen staff will deliver on the course by cart.

We were limited to:

-
a ten team ‘shotgun start’
-
Putting Challenge (see last years AWESOME winning shot on the web site Home page!)
-
Chipping Challenge (another great 2019 video on the web site)
-
along with our perennial favourite, the Hole in One Challenge (maybe this will be the year folks; it’s certainly already one for the record books so you never know, it’s something hopeful to think about lol)
A buffet 'back in the good old days...'
Missing in 2020 was:
-
closest to the hole
-
ladies & mens centre line
-
ladies & mens longest drives
-
shouting – show your appreciation of good shots by applause this year please!
-
sit-down buffet banquet, long-winded speeches :(, on-site prize giving, merchandise auction, and lying about how you did on the course.
No gatherings are permitted at the beginning or at the conclusion of the tournament.
We have a timeline of 30 minutes to arrive, starting at 8:30am, put our shoes on, grab the clubs, place them on the golf cart and drive to our designated holes to then be ready to start at 9:00am.
Above all, we want everyone on the course to be safe, we encourage distancing among the players when teeing up, use of gloves & sanitizer whenever appropriate. Our web designer will take quick distanced Team photos this year in various spots around one location; the Hole in One Challenge by the breezy riverside.

There will be no prizes presented at the tournament. All prize draws will be recorded and placed on the web page and the new Facebook Page within 48 hours. I will make arrangements to ‘doorstep deliver’ the prizes the following week.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding this year. Also to reach out to the generous sponsors who have continued this journey as it enters its 6th year. We are a little stretched but we will provide much needed assistance to our charities. Like all of us, Chaplain’s Challenge is hoping for a rebirth in 2021 and with your help you will see an improvement.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people in the background who help out each and every year to make it work on game day. Their support is well appreciated.

Some of our earliest volunteers...

We started off six years ago with this tournament
after an 18 month preparation plan, and have
done our best since to organize a fundraiser,
set in the great outdoors of Nova Scotian that
makes an immediate difference here in Nova Scotia

I believe that Father Lloyd would be so proud but,
he was a modest man and so all I can say is that
I know that he has a smile on his face. We are
moving closer to honoring all of our Police
Chaplains who have served our Policing Agencies in our Province; no longer with us in body but here in spirit. In their time, they were there on the front line to help the grieving public in their time of need.
Once again, on behalf of our committee, thank you so much.
